It has been truly amazing to witness the growth and positive impact that Smithsonian Gardens has experienced as it has matured into a world-class public garden and living museum.
Garden Tours
Free weekly tours of the Enid A. Haupt Garden are offered every Wednesday at 10 a.m. from May 22 through September 25, 2024, weather permitting. Check the Smithsonian Gardens calendar for the most up-to-date information. Please note there are no tours on federal holidays (June 19).
Plan Your Visit
Smithsonian Gardens extends the Smithsonian’s museum experience in a public garden setting with over 180 acres of outdoor gardens including 13 public exhibition gardens often called the Smithsonian institution’s “museum without walls.”
We are open to the public every day except December 25.

The exhibit includes 6 interpretive panels exploring the notion of biophilia, the innate need for humans to connect with living things, especially with plants.
