My name is Joanna Itoh and I'm a volunteer with the Anteater Village Community Garden on the UC Irvine campus in Irvine, California. Our Board has asked me to survey other community garden leaders regarding your policies in the following areas:
1. Use of Owl Boxes and Raptor Posts for Rodent Control. We would like to include these around the garden in an effort to eliminate rat poison containers. Our concern is that garden hardware and netting might harm the owls or raptors as they hunt. How do other associations handle rodent control and encourage natural predators? 2. Restrictions on Structures: What restrictions do other community gardens place on the size, material, and arrangement of structures? To what extent are large arbors with overhead plants permitted? 3. Shade: What policies govern how much shade a plot can cast on neighboring plots?
Your feed back would be much appreciated.
